Why do you run? I get asked that a lot. Well, it truly started as a way to get back into shape after the birth of my son… but over time, it became the thing that allowed me to see beyond myself. It gave me something that I had forgotten during the chaos of new motherhood and just trying to survive postpartum. I had simply forgotten how to live with intention and deep gratitude.
Because when your lungs are burning and you think your feet can’t carry you one more mile, you begin to doubt yourself. But then something changes. Kinda like an awakening. You stop thinking about what’s happening TO you and you start seeing what’s happening AROUND you. You see the path you’re on, you hear the road beneath your feet, you feel the breath you GET to take. You realize, with great gratitude, all that you are and all that you have to give of yourself. All that you are truly capable of.
THIS. This is why I run. Gratitude has changed everything.
